First Annual Cougar Kickoff Party

Well this year Brian's little brothers decided to "light the Y" Cory has been keeping the grass perfectly trimmed this entire summer, and last night it got painted...Tiffany made awesome invitations!! Everyone was to bring their own meat and something "BLUE" to share. I made blue pasta salad...there were also things like....blue breadsticks, blue homemade oreo cookies, a blue bag of cool ranch doritos, blue chocolate chip cookies, blue potato salad, blue rice crispy treats, blue cake, blue carmel corn and the list goes on...there was also a contest on who could come as the best dressed cougar fan...so I decided to have Kali in a Pooh on U shirt...(because ultimately the best cougar fan is the one who doesn't like the Utes', right? (I have to be very careful because my brother in law is as big as a UTAH fan is my husband is a BYU fan....imagine...that....) We had a great time and will carryon this tradition....

Boyz II Men

Well go back with me to 1991 when Boyz II men had there first hit. ... We all fell madly in love with them and then came the famous song "I'll make love to you" and you all remember how your heart melted....So Brian got us tickets to go to the concert at the Orem Scera theater though his work...and we ended up with VIP passes to go and meet them all personally. Shawn, Nate & Wayna!! Well here is a little history about Wayna. Brian served his mission in the Cherry Hill, New Jersey mission. And quincidentally knocked on Wayna's door....Wayna let Brian and his companion into his home and they chilled for about 3 hours. Well Brain and I had the chance to meet them. Brian mentioned that he had been to his home with he was a missionary for the LDS church then Wayna' said, oh ya the "Elders" and he remembered him, he made a funny joke about they both had hair back then and thanked him for coming. It was pretty cool. We had a great time at the concert with some friends and Brian's brothers....

So Fun!!

This weekend I had a chance to go down to St. George for Katie's baby shower. She is having a little girl and naming her Loryn. We were all roommates and friends in college at some point. As one got married another moved in. We laughed and talked, and talked until 3:00am in the morning...I felt like we were really back in college a couple of time during the night. (Except where was the Mountain Dew :) It was so fun to talk and see what everyone had been up to in the last 5 years. We have all stayed in contact throughout the years. Heather moved to Florida for a while, KT & Lindsay moved to St. George (Yes we are all jealous) and Wendy and I are true Utah County girls. I sure never thought I would say that. Now Heather is living in Cedar City while her husband is pursuing his masters.... and the rest re-main the same.

For my record...
I met Heather at waffle night at the apartments by Columbia Lane (Mutual Guy friends)

I met Lindsay through my friend Mckinzey (who I played softball at UVSC with ) sister-in law Krystal (who was from Monticello & so was Lindsay).

I met Katie through Heather who met Katie working at Nuskin....

I met Wendy in summer school at UVSC in a Early Childhood Development class...

Wow and there it is. Lindsay thanks for letting us all stay at your house.

Girls I recommend this to all of you. Having Girl friends, Sisters, Moms, Sister-in-laws, Mother-in -laws & grandmas...Is so amazing. The connection that women have is awesome and such a great support. I put a challenge to every girl out there to look up someone they haven't talked or heard from in a while... someone you have been thinking about (because I know everyone has someone they have wondered about.... how they are, where they are, or just simply how they are doing) and go out of your way to contact them, do something nice for them, send a letter, e-mail. ect...YOU BE CREATIVE>>>>>>The rewards are great!

I was also so glad to come home to my little family of 2. I loved the college days and every now and again it is so great to
relive them and catch up with old friends....But then I quickly realize how blessed I am to have a wonderful husband who treats me so good and loves me and Kali so much. I am so glad I have them in my life...I hope I can always live everyday to the fullest.

Shower!!

Well this is something on a whole new level for "mom", I asked Kali today if she would like to watch Barney while I took a shower. She said, yeah! I thought to myself, ok I will take a quick shower and I will see if she would stay in the chair like I asked her to...And to my amazement, she did. This is how I found her....Mom can officially take a shower without Kali wanting to get in....I love this little girl....

Lawn

Well I had to try and show everyone how long our lawn got. We had not mowed in about a week and a half....and we fertilized the week before so our lawn just took off. I took Brian and I about 2 hours to mow the front and back as well as weedwihp. Brian is very particular about the lawn and the grass for anyone that knows him. He does a great job at making our yard look nice. Thanks Babe for all you do...

Welcome Home Elder Lindsay

Brian's only cousin Kevin is home from serving a 2 year LDS mission in England. We are so exited that he is home. Brian and Kevin grew up together living just around the corner from one another. Brian's Mom Marilyn and Kevin's Dad Sheldon are brother and sister. We love there family so much and are so thankful we get to travel so much with them.

Say Cheese!!

This is Kali's first attempt at saying cheese for the camera. I have been trying to get her to say cheese and she has caught on. I love how she doesn't really know how to smile with her teeth. We have been playing all day together. Running errands (I got my car's safety and emission, dropped the dry cleaning off , shopped around burlington (looking for some sing a long dvd's) racing up and down the stairs. (She can really move ) And just laying on the floor putting on and off mom's shoes and tickling her to death. I love days like this. . . spending quality time together.

Feeding the Ducks

This is something Brian and Kali like to do when mom is gone. They ride there bike on the trail to a little park that has a pond with ducks. These ducks are so tame. People feed them all the time. We got Kali a little bag of of bread and we where on our way....She loved throwing the bread and then at times would get mad when they would eat it so fast....

24th of JULY

Again our family loves the month of JULY because we can sit back and reflect on how blessed we are to live in a free country. We spend the 4th of JULY with Brian's family and the 24th of JULY with my family. THis year we started the week off by going to the Spanish Fork Rodeo. Before hand we went to Glade's drive inn and at dinner. Then walked down to the fairgrounds. This was one of the best Rodeo's I have ever been to. Our family had such a great time. Even though it was a late night we had lots of fun. Here are some fun photos.

Grandma Carter bought Kali her own Cowboy hat....I didn't think she would wear it but she loved it. I think because everyone else had on a similar HAT.

Daddy & Kali in there HOT hats.

Seth, Kali, Paul, Jeff & BC ( Brian and Kali's first time EVER touching a horse) If you can believe that.
Dad & Kali
T
Marci & Jeff aren't they HOT

Last but not least...MOM & KALI

Kali 15 MONTHS

I can't believe my little girls is already 15 months. She had her doctors appointment a couple of weeks ago and she is doing great. She is 24 pounds and 32.5 inches tall. I am still not sure where she is getting this height from :) But I will take it while I can. She is so smart. She has a very keen mind. She understands everything you say. We are already starting to spell things....(I hope she won't be spelling for a while) Kali is loved by everyone, being the only grandchild (for now) she has lots of attention. She knows most of her sounds (puppy, kitty, train, car, motorcycle, pig) and so forth. Her favorite work is YA....Anything your say her answers in YA...She has not learned to say NO yet but can shake her head if she doesn't want something. She loves to play and read books. Go on walks and swim in the pool.

4th of JULY!!

Happy 4th of July (A little late) Our family loves the 4th of July...especially Brian...it is his favorite holiday. All the younger kids camp out on the parade route to be sure we get a great seat. We are also very lucky to have the owner of Lon's Cookin in our family. We camp out right in front of his place. The parade starts at nine and of course we need to be there at 8:30 to be sure we are ready and in our seats before the jets fly over (Brian's favorite). Then we watch the parade which is always fun with all of the CARTER'S...our family is growing and we are loving it. Later we head over the Nate & Tiffany's for a BBQ and swimming (it is great to have a pool in the family ) We spend the afternoon there. Then we can't miss the Leishman's party....They have popcorn, burgers, salads, snowies and whatever else you can think of. Thanks Leishman's!! Then off to the park for a friendly family game of baseball. We use a wiffle ball and bat and it is kids against adults. The kids usually win but now that we are all growing up and getting married....The adults may start getting some win's under there belts. Then of course we finish the night of with fireworks of our own as well as the stadium of fire...We have a great view from Brian's parents house. I should have taken more pictures but I didn't....So we are PROUND TO BE AMERICANS!! (And this year we were glad to have my sister Marci come and hangout with us.

Grandpa Carter & Kali in her very own pool. She thinks she is pretty cute. She even got to eat corn on the cob in "her" pool.
